Srinagar, Dec 3, : A day after police sealed the office of an NGO, allegedly involved in Covid-19 orphans trafficking, Mission Director Integrated Child protection Scheme( ICPS) today said that ICPS was caught unaware about this issue, though they work really hard and are on ground round to clock for the welfare and protection of children.
Pertinently, police have registered a formal case with regard to alleged trafficking of Covid-19 orphans from Kashmir to outside and have sealed the office of unregistered NGO namely Global Welfare Charitable Trust in Samboora Pampore.
While talking to reporters, Integrated Child protection Scheme( ICPS) Mission Director, Shabnum Kamili said that police is ascertaining the background of the NGO in question while so for two persons have been arrested. She said action will be initiated against those NGOs who are dealing with children and are still unregistered.
“Unfortunately, no missing report about any child was registered and that is why we were caught unaware. Guardians who sell their children for money are also equally responsible like the unregistered NGO in question,” she said.
