Dr Samoon visits ITI, Polytechnic colleges; interacts with faculty, students

Asks to set up video walls for demonstration purpose

SRINAGAR, MARCH 07: Principal Secretary, Skill Development Department, Dr Asgar Hassan Samoon, today visited Polytechnic Colleges and Industrial Training Institute in Srinagar district and held interaction with the students and faculty there.

Dr. Samoon inspected various class rooms, labs at Kashmir Government Polytechnic College Gogji Bagh, Industrial Training Institute, Baghi Dilawar Khan and Government Polytechnic for Women Bemina and interacted with the students. He enquired about the courses being offered to the youth and the employability of the course being run under skill development schemes.

While interacting with students and staff at the centre, Dr Samoon encouraged them to address the training needs of the candidates adding that the Government is always at the forefront to provide any kind of guidance and support for skill development in J&K.

Dr Samoon directed the faculty to impart quality training to the students and keep focus on practical oriented courses.

While interacting with the students of automobile sector at the ITI, he said that the scope for ITI trained students is growing rapidly and faculty should help students to know about emerging developments in the industry.

He said that the courses offered at polytechnic colleges and ITIs are different from the degree colleges. He added that it is an art vocational trade and the course is designed to provide a drawing of projects and students should be helped to get visual guidelines showing the technical details.

Dr. Samoon further stressed the need for self employment which would eventually make the young population self reliant and thereby boosting the skill and entrepreneurship ecosystem in J&K.

He also directed the concerned to establish video walls in the institutes for demonstration purposes besides introducing latest technology and diversifying the courses being offered to the students.
