NABARD in collaboration with National Rural Livelihood mission, celebrated International Women’s Day-2022 in Shopian. The programme was attended by a large number of female self-employment trainees undergoing skill development training at Rural Self Employment training institute. DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar along with other dignitaries inaugurated the programme.
Dr Rubeena, Deputy Chief Medical Officer was invited as the chief guest and BBPM NRLM was the special guest. Speaking during the occasion, the DDM NABARD Rouf Zargar said, “today, women are in the mainstream of society, they are representing various fields and have even achieved success in their tasks”. He said, the women centric schemes of central and state government are aimed to give priority to women by empowering them in various fields. He said NABARD has been working since a long time towards the empowerment of women by pioneering the Self Help Group Bank linkage programme. .”
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Rubeena said that there is the need to celebrate this day to highlight the importance and significance of the womens role in developing the prosperous and respectable society. She said women with their sheer grit, dedication and determination have achieved their goals. They over the years are attempting to breach all types of gender stereotypes. She said women need to be empowered at par with men they have the capacity, capability and even talent to demonstrate with enormous success in every field, whether it may be self-employment, government, bureaucracy, or sports.
On the occasion eight women SHG members were felicitated for their outstanding achievements in livelihood generation and establishment of income generating units. These women shared their journey and success stories with the trainees. On the occasion, Lead District Manager and RSETI Director gave out the details of banking schemes available to females in varied fields of education and entrepreneurial business.
