Mayor JMC, Div Com visit Gaushala Nagrota; Inspect work progress at mega facility ’75 % work of phase 1 completed; shifting of bovines to start from May 1, 2022’

JAMMU, APRIL 01: Mayor Jammu Municipal Corporation, Chander Mohan Gupta and Divisional Commissioner Dr Raghav Langer conducted an extensive inspection of Municipal Cattle Shed coming up here at Panjgrain Nagrota.

 Joint Commissioner (Adm) JMC, Pankaj Gupta; Executive Engineer (Project Division) JMC, Firdous Ahmed Qazi along with his team, Municipal Veterinary Officer, Dr Susheel Sharma and other concerned officers were present at the site.

 The Mayor and Div Com went around the Complex along with the team and ascertained the quality of completed portion and the works in progress.

Pertinently, spread over about 97 Kanal area amid   hillocks and captivating ambience, the unique and modern Goshalla will have separate sheds for bulls, cows and calves along with a Veterinary dispensary for treatment of sick animals.

A treat for eyes with serene surroundings along with water bodies, the place will also have a solar plant and modern amenities to attract the tourists and pilgrims coming to Shri Mata Vaishno Devi ji Shrine.

Moreover, with its completion, the facility would also supply fresh milk and milk products to Jammu city and adjoining urban centres.

 It was informed that that an amount of Rs 5 crore has been sanctioned in the first instance to develop the prestigious public asset.

During the visit, the engineering wing of JMC apprised the Div Com about the present status of work on each component of the project and explained the future work plan.

 It was informed that the works executed under phase 1 with an estimated cost of Rs 3.30 Crore include construction of Cow shed, Bull shed, Calf Shed, Green/Dry storage shed, Dung Collection shed, underground water tank,  Chowkidar Hut, land levelling work and retaining wall work. The Executive Engineer informed that over 75 percent work of phase 1 has been completed.

The Div Com directed the project wing JMC to expedite the pace and ensure completion of one portion of the cattle pound i.e the cattle sheds by April 30, 2022 so that the first lot of animals could be shifted to this modern facility.

To create the provision for a perennial water source for the Cattle Shed, the Divisional Commissioner passed directions to the concerned officers to expedite the  bore-well work for the already completed sump tank of 50,000 liter capacity.

It was informed that the work on providing power supply to the Gaushala by JPDCL was in progress.  Dr Langer stressed to execute the internal electrification work simultaneously for early completion of the same.

Regarding the approach road from National Highway to the cattle shed, the Div Com instructed the officers to sign a MoU with the stakeholders for resolving the land issue and ensure completion of work on the road in a time bound manner.
