Jammu May 2, All Jammu Kashmir and Ladakh Teachers Federation aft. with Akhil Bhartiya Rashtriya Shakshik Mahasangh, State President, Devraj Thakur greeted people on the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr and hoped that the festival strengthens the bond of peace, unity and brotherhood in Jammu Kashmir and prayed for the everlasting peace and prosperity of the UT.
“Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the culmination of the fasting month of Ramzan, is being celebrated across the country tomorrow.
Ramzan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, is observed as a fasting period by Muslims who abstain from food and water from sunrise to sunset and it culminates in Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations.
On the occasion of Eid-ul-Fitr, I extend my best wishes and greetings to all the fellow citizens, especially to the Muslim brothers and sisters” Thakur added.
“The auspicious festival of Eid-ul-Fitr, which marks the end of Ramadan, is celebrated as an occasion to strengthen the spirit of fraternity and harmony. Eid-ul-Fitr is also an occasion to rededicate ourselves to the service of humanity and to improve the lives of the people in need,” he said.
Eid-ul-Fitr, which translates to “festival of breaking the fast” is a time of rejoicing with family and friends. It’s a blissful celebration that marks the end of the holy month of Ramzan when millions of Muslims enthusiastically wait for the new moon sighting to be confirmed, to celebrate the end of their fasting journey, Thakur added further.
Thakur said that Eid reminds us to take care of the poor, destitute and downtrodden and it is the utmost duty of the people across J&K, especially Kashmir to take care of the poor lot in their localities.
He prayed that may this Eid turn as the harbinger of peace, prosperity, and development in the J&K UT.
“May this year’s Eid-ul-Fitr celebrations strengthen mutual goodwill and inspire each one of us to follow the path of love and compassion,” he said.
Thakur said that the spirit of generosity and charity associated with the festival helps usher in a humane and compassionate society in this strife-torn world. Thakur said that the festival evokes feelings of brotherhood, compassion and sharing in all and strengthens the pluralistic bonds of the country’s composite society. He also said that the auspicious occasion brought to the fore the noble instincts in people.
