World Bicycle Day is observed throughout the world on 8 June. It was in April 2018, when United Nation first time adopted 03 June as the World Bicycle Day. This day is celebrated to lay emphasis on the benefits of riding a bicycle, for health and environment.
Indian Army in its continuous efforts to connect the youth of Kupwara to main stream of nation building organised a Bicycle Rally on 03 Jun 2022 in Kalaroose. This was organised to mark the World Bicycle Day and also Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav being celebrated throughout the country. More than 50 students participated in this event with the spark in their eye to contribute towards a sustainable environment and also to make locals aware of the benefits of cycling.
The students rode for over a stretch of 07 Km from Thayan to Nagsari, Kalaroos, first event of its kind in their lives. And at the culimination of the Rally the participants were facilitated by Indian Army and were encouraged and motivated to participate in such events planned in future for them.
