Srinagar, 06 July 2022. As part of the continual outreach program of the Indian Army in Gurez, a team of eight women from the ASHA Skill Development Centre, being run by the Indian Army and Personnel of the Indian Army, visited the border villages of Refugee 1 and Refugee 2 on the Line of Control in Gurez sector to celebrate Eid with the Locals and Distribute Eidi.
The women volunteers trekked for one hour through the difficult mountain trails along with the personnel of the Indian Army to distributed clothes which were made by them at the Stitching Centres and contributed by the personnel and families of the Indian Army as Eidi to the Locals of the villages in order to celebrate the holy festival of Eid Ul-Adha in its true essence. They also distributed sweets to the children, interacted and enquired about the well being of the locals by visiting them at their houses, and exchanged warm wishes on the occasion of Eid. These villages are located approx 1 km short of the Line of control and 8 kms fromthe nearest road Head which is at Kashpet.
Hence the locals inhabiting these villages are ina state of penury and face numerous hardships and challenges, lacking basic facilities andamenities such as electricity, drinking water, medical assistance and education.
