DC Budgam chairs Mega Block Diwas at remote Lachmanpora village in Khag

Visits Shonglipora to meet artisans, weaving carpets for the new Parliament building

Assures direct marketing linkage, buyer- seller meet facilities to artisans

BUDGAM, SEPTEMBER 21: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Budgam, S F Hamid today chaired a mega Block Diwas at remote Panchayat Halqa Lachmanpora in Block Khag.

Among others, SDM Beerwah, Taufeeq Gazi, CEO, Engineers from various engineering wings, AD Handicraft, CHO, CAHO, DSHO, Tehsildar, BMO, BDO and other district officers and officials attended the programme.

On the occasion, PRIs and respected locals from villages Lachmanpora, Batapora, Lassipora, Habbar, Sitharan, Drung and other adjacent villages apprised the DC about their needs.

After giving patient hearing to the public, the DC said special focus is being given to this area for falling in the picturesque Tosamaidaan belt.

He said various road projects, WSS, improvement works  in power, health and education sectors are in progress and in the pipeline to ensure holistic development of the area.

On the occasion, CEO Budgam assured that a feasibility check shall be carried out for upgradation of schools to the next level.

He also said that a safety audit of old middle school building shall be conducted for the safety of students and staff members.

On the occasion, Ex. Engineer PDD informed locals about the onetime PDD amnesty scheme and urged consumers to avail benefits under it.

Asserting on cleanliness and sanitation, the DC urged the PRIs and locals to ensure complete ban on single use plastic items and proper garbage disposal, besides construction of compost and soakage pits for solid waste and liquid waste management.

DC also visited village Shonglipora and Lachmanpora villages, where he  interacted with the artisans, weaving  handmade carpets for the new Parliament building.

While appreciating them for bringing fame to their village and entire district Budgam for their exemplary work in handmade carpet weaving, the DC directed concerned to ensure all artisans are registered under different schemes for their welfare and prosperity.

While listening to their demands, the DC assured facilities including direct marketing linkage and buyer- seller meets shall be conducted to ensure more revenue generation and other maximum benefits are availed by these artisans for their hard work.

He assured that District Administration Budgam is committed for the welfare of artisan community and promotion of all art forms in the district.
