September 29: As a part of Public outreach programme and an initiative of J&K Government, Police in Budgam have organized ‘Thana Diwas’ at Townhall Khanshab, PS Chadoora, PS Beerwah and PS Khag.
At Townhall Khanshab, the meeting was chaired by SDPO Khanshab Shri Ghulam Mohidin Malik-JKPS alongwith SHO Khanshab. In PS Chadoora, Thana Diwas meeting was chaired by SDPO Charar-e-Sharief Shri Salim Jehengir-JKPS and DySP PC Chadoora Shri Mohammad Anzar-JKPS along with SHO Police Station Chadoora while as in Police Station Khag, Thana Diwas meeting was chaired by the concerned SHO. Similarly, at Police Station Beerwah, Thana Diwas meeting was also organised which was chaired by SHO Police Station Beerwah. These meetings were attended by respectable citizens, Traders federation and transporters, Numberdars, Chowkidars, Auqaf committee members and other respectable citizens of these areas. Besides, AEE R&B Department & AE PDD Department were also present in a meeting at Police Station Beerwah.
During these meetings, participants highlighted various grievances/issues of public importance. They were assured that their genuine grievances pertaining to Police will be resolved on priority and grievances pertaining to civil administration will be taken up with the concerned Departments for their early redressal.
While speaking on the occasions, the chairing officers reiterated that the main aim of organising ‘Thana Diwas’ is to improve efficiency, transparency and accountability in Policing at grass-root level and to hear grievances of general public, besides seek support and active cooperation in maintaining L&O, curbing drug menace and others social evils in the areas.
The participants were also stressed to co-operate with Police in identifying anti-national and anti social elements who always try to disrupt the peaceful environment in the district. During these events, the cooperation of general public in eradication of drug abuse, social crimes etc were also sought. The participants appreciated the gesture of Police and assured their cooperation in eradication of social evils from the district. They also lauded the role of Police for conducting such interactive meetings which further boost Community Policing and Public confidence.
