Department of Tribal Affairs to open Vandhan Kendras in all District of J&K UT

The Department of Tribal Affairs J&K today conducted a one-day awareness camp cum training programme at DIET District Head Quarter Kulgam Kulgam.

The camp was attended by DDC Chairman, Mohammad Afzal Parray; DDC Members of Home Shalibugh, Noorabad and Chawalgam besides Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kulgam, Showket Ahmad; Nodal Officer/Coordinator Tribal Affairs Department, Javaid Ahmad Parray; CEO Kulgam, Mohammad Ashraf and Warden G&B/ST Hostel Kulgam, Nayeema Malik.

Speaking on the occasion, the Nodal Officer/Coordinator said that the Department will launch a mass awareness drive related to developmental, educational and other allied activities in all Sub-District, Block and Tehsil Level across all districts of J&K.

He informed the participants that the main aim for conducting these kinds of awareness camps is to educate the general public particularly the Scheduled Tribe community about the different developmental and other allied schemes so that the beneficiaries are able to reap their benefits.

The Coordinator/Nodal Officer said that the Department has introduced and expanded the network of various Developmental Schemes for the Welfare of the ST community throughout the UT of J&K. He stated that such a type of awareness camps cum training programme will cover the major population of ST students who are unaware about the different Scholarship Schemes being implemented by the Department.

He stressed ZEOs, HoIs and INOs of District Kulgam to take serious steps towards achieving 100 targets for these schemes. He further requested the participants that by or before 20th December, 2022 there should be 100percent coverage of ST students which is 20-25percent at present.

He also informed that the Department has started various employment generating programmes for the welfare of the unemployed youth of the UT. Setting up Sheep Farm, Dairy Farm, Vandhan Kendras and various other projects are sponsored through TRIFED.

The DDC Chairman Kulgam hailed the efforts and steps taken by the Tribal Affairs Department for the welfare and upliftment of Scheduled Tribe Community of the J&K UT.
