GDC Kargil observes Women’s Entrepreneurship Day

Skill Centre GDC Kargil in association with Mahatma Gandhi National Centre for Rural Education (MGNCRE), Ministry of Education today observed Women’s Entrepreneurship Day to acknowledge, support and celebrate contribution of women entrepreneurs towards betterment of society.

Sharath Naveen Kumar, Chief Programme Coordinator MGNCRE, Ministry of Education presided over the event as chief guest and Shayista Ayoub, State Manager Usha International Ltd. JK/ Ladakh was guest of honour on the occasion.

In his address, the chief guest discussed how women in entrepreneurship could revolutionize societal development. He appreciated the efforts of Skill Centre GDC Kargil in skilling women and assured every possible support of MGNCRE to augment women entrepreneurship in the region.

Shayista Ayoub deliberated on the importance of women participation in entrepreneurship and role played by Usha Care through Silai School programme in promotion of women entrepreneurship in far-flung areas across the country.

Pertinently, the Skill Centre GDC Kargil in collaboration with Usha International Ltd. and SIDBI has trained local women under Swalamban Silai programme and established 25 Silai Schools in different villages in Kargil district.

Earlier, Dr. Javed Naqi, Coordinator Skill Centre presented welcome adress. Others who spoke on the occasion include Dr. Sankara Rao Resource Person MGNCRE and Srikar Reddy MGNF Fellow Kargil.

During the session, women entrepreneurs, trained by the skill centre, also shared their motivation and challenges they have faced to become potential entrepreneurs.

The programme concluded with the inauguration of exhibition of Ladakhi craft products developed by students and trainers of the skill centre.
