Kashmir Writers Association demands opening of Sharda Peeth in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir during impressive event at Sharda Temple inauguration

Kupwara, April 22: The Kashmir Writers Association hosted an impressive event at the Teetwal LOC to celebrate the opening of the Sharda Temple. The Association demanded the opening of the Sharda Peeth in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, similar to the Kartarpur Corridor. During the inaugural ceremony, hundreds of volunteers, devotees, civil society members, and local people were present. The panchaloha Sharda idol was consecrated in the newly constructed temple, which was donated by Sringeri Mutt, Karnataka. The KWA congratulated and welcomed the devotees with flowers, garlands, and sweets to promote the message of love and brotherhood. The KWA also assured the member of the Save Sharda Committee of their full support and cooperation to spread this message.

Established in 2021, the KWA provides a platform for Kashmiri writers, poets, and intellectuals to showcase their work and exchange ideas. The Association hosts literary festivals, workshops, and other events to promote literature, culture, and language. Fida Firdous, the founding member and head of the Association, addressed the gathering and stated that the KWA is committed to preserving and promoting the rich heritage of Kashmir. He also mentioned that the reconstruction of the Sharda Temple is a step towards reviving the ancient annual pilgrimage to the Sharda Peeth in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. He further added that the KWA believes that the long-pending demand of the Hindu Community to open the Sharda Peeth, similar to the Kartarpur Corridor, should be immediately fulfilled, and they are willing to provide support in this direction. Fida Firdous emphasized that the KWA intends to play a significant role in fostering a vibrant literary community in the Kashmir Valley. He also explained the significance of the Sharda Peeth and how it represents a wound in their cultural creed that needs to be addressed.
