349 cases settled; Rs.80.69 lakh recovered

KUPWARA, MAY 13: In pursuance to the calendar of NALSA and under immediate supervision of J&K LSA; District Legal Services Authority Kupwara today organised a National Lok Adalat across District Kupwara in which total number of 5 benches were constituted for taking up 598 cases of all nature.
At District Head Quarter Kupwara, 03 benches were constituted out of which one bench was presided over by Ms. Shazia Tabasum, Chairperson District Legal Services Authority Kupwara along with Mr. Altaf Ahmad Mir, Munsiff JMIC Kupwara
Another bench was presided over by Sh. Khem Raj Sharma, Additional District & Sessions Judge P.O Fast Track Court Kupwara along with Advocate Shafiq Ahmad Shah, Bar President Bar Association Kupwara, and another bench was presided over by Mr. Manzoor Ahmad Khan Sub-Judge Kupwara/ Secretary DLSA Kupwara along with Vice bar President Kupwara.
Similarly, one bench was constituted at Headquarters of Handwara which was presided over by Shri Vishaish Kumar Parihars, Chief Judicial Magistrate Handwara along with Mr. Mozamil Yousuf Bhat, Dy. Chief Legal Aid Defence Council, DLSA Kupwara for disposal of cases through amicable means.
Out of the total cases taken up in before all the benches in the National Lok Adalat, 349 cases were settled on spot and Rs.80,69,000 amount was awarded by intervention of the benches and by participation of the lawyers and litigants.
Lawyers and litigants participating in the National Lok Adalat expressed their joy in early disposal of the cases through mutual settlement and appreciated the arrangements of the National Lok Adalat.
