In a bid to address the pressing concerns faced by the residents of Karnah, Civil Society Karnah recently organized a crucial meeting to discuss various issues related to health, electricity, and education. The deteriorating state of the power supply in Karnah emerged as the focal point of the meeting, which was attended by prominent dignitaries, including Chairman of Civil Society Karnah, S.D Qureshi, and General Secretary Raja Waqar Khan.
During the meeting, Peerzada S.D Qureshi highlighted the severe power crisis plaguing Karnah, stating, “Out of the 24 hours in a day, we only receive 1 to 2 hours of electricity. We have never experienced such frequent power outages before. This injustice is adversely affecting our tehsil.”
Raja Waqar Khan, the General Secretary of Civil Society Karnah, spoke to the media and shed light on the charcoal plant situated in Panjtaraan village. He explained that the plant has become a significant cause of concern for the villagers, as it emits toxic gases, leading to respiratory diseases among the local population. Khan further emphasized the need for a doctor in the region, highlighting that the Sub-District Hospital (SDH) in Tangdhar remains nothing more than a building, lacking the necessary infrastructure and personnel to serve as a fully functional healthcare facility.
Civil Society Karnah, through its representatives, expressed their heartfelt plea to the administration to promptly address these critical issues. The prolonged power outages have severely impacted the daily lives and livelihoods of the residents. Access to consistent electricity is vital for various essential services, such as healthcare, education, and economic activities.
Moreover, the harmful effects of the charcoal plant on the health of the villagers cannot be ignored. The emission of toxic gases poses a significant risk to the respiratory well-being of the local population. The immediate closure or relocation of the plant may be necessary to safeguard the health and welfare of the community.
Additionally, the lack of a doctor at the SDH Tangdhar is a matter of great concern. The absence of proper medical services in the tehsil leaves the residents vulnerable and without access to adequate healthcare. Civil Society Karnah strongly urges the government to address this issue by providing the necessary resources and personnel to upgrade the SDH Tangdhar to a fully functional healthcare facility.
The Civil Society Karnah hopes that the administration will take swift action to resolve these urgent problems. The welfare of the general public is at stake, and the continuous suffering endured by the residents demands immediate attention and effective solutions.
