Jammu-Srinagar National Highway, one of the lifelines connecting Jammu and Kashmir to the rest of the country, has been hit with a double blow today, causing severe traffic congestion and halting movement in both directions.
Traffic officials of kashmir informed that commuters are urged to confirm the current status before proceeding as authorities work diligently to clear the hurdles.
Earlier traffic officials added a landslide at Shalgarhi has created a massive obstacle, hindering the smooth flow of traffic. As of the latest reports, efforts are underway to clear the debris, but it’s still a work in progress. Men and machinery are on the job, striving to restore normalcy on the vital highway. This is a recurring issue that has plagued the region due to its challenging terrain, and authorities are doing their best to expedite the clearance process.
Additionally In another unfortunate incident, an accident occurred at Nachlana, involving a bus and a truck. This collision has not only caused severe congestion but has also raised concerns about the safety of commuters in the region.
Also adding to the traffic chaos, nomadic deras have further compounded the issue by setting up on or near the highway. This has exacerbated the congestion and made it even more challenging for commuters to traverse the area. Authorities are working to address this matter in addition to the landslide and accident.
Further given the current situation, commuters are strongly advised to confirm the status of the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway before starting their journeys. (ANR)
