District Drug De-Addiction Centre Bandipora hosts CBP on Ekta Diwas – UT Foundation Day

BANDIPORA, OCTOBER 31: On the occasion of J&K UT Foundation Day, the District Drug De-Addiction Centre (DDAC) Bandipora today conducted a comprehensive day long Capacity Building Programme (CBP) under the National Action Plan for Drug Demand Reduction (NAPDDR).

The event, which took place at Conference Hall, District Drug De-Addiction Centre Bandipora brought together various stakeholders, including members of the District Development Council (DDC), Block Development Council (BDC), Panchayati Raj Institutions (PRIs), Teachers, Health Officials, Asha Workers, ICDS and other frontline workers.

This significant initiative was organized by the District Drug De-Addiction Centre Bandipora, IA-JKSWM in collaboration with the Social Welfare Department Bandipora.

The event was graced by the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bandipora, Dr. Owais Ahmed.

The programme began with a warm welcome note by Rehana Akhter, Manager DDAC. The gathering was then addressed by various experts, shedding light on critical aspects of drug addiction and its impact on society.

Advocate Mudasir Nazir, a Counselor at DDAC, provided insights into the effects of drug abuse. Jawhar Ahmad, Outreach Worker at DDAC, highlighted the essential role of public representatives, PRIs, teachers, students, and employees in combating the drug menace.

Dr. Umair Quyoom, Medical Officer, presented medical aspects related to drug abuse, offering valuable information to the audience.

Junaid Gazi, Counselor, ATF, delivered a speech on drug addiction and the process of de-addiction. Nighat Nageen, Project Coordinator, DDAC Bandipora, provided an overview of the facilities and services available free of cost to patients at DDAC, emphasizing both Inpatient (IPD) and Outpatient (OPD) care.

Adding a multimedia dimension to the event, Altaf Hussain, DEO DDAC, presented a captivating PowerPoint presentation about the services and facilities at DDAC.

In addition to the enlightening sessions, informational and educational materials were distributed among the participants, including posters and pamphlets that showcased the services offered by DDAC.

Participants praised the event and expressed their appreciation for the pivotal role played by the District Drug De-Addiction Centre in combating the drug menace within society.

The Capacity Building Programme on UT Foundation Day held at DDAC Bandipora served as a crucial step in raising awareness and equipping individuals and institutions with the knowledge and tools needed to address the challenges posed by drug addiction in the region.
