JAMMU, OCTOBER 31: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages today celebrated UT Foundation Day by hosting a scintillating program in K.L Segal Hall featuring Mushaira, Folk dance, Dogra musical ensemble and folk songs.
Dr. Shanawaz, Editor cum Cultural Officer Gojri presented the welcome address on behalf of Bharat Singh, Secretary, JKAACL. He said that all the three forms of visual Arts, Performing arts and Literature are building blocks of a society and need to be protected and promoted. JKAACL organizes such events for promotion and Preservation of Art, Culture and Languages of Jammu and Kashmir.
On the occasion Veteran artists of Jammu and Kashmir Gokal Dembi and Ravinder Jamwal were felicitated by presentation of Memento and a Shawl by Prof.Lalit Mangotra and RajinderTikku in the presence of Anil Sehgal for their contribution in the field of Visual arts and Sculpture.
The program began with multilingual Mushaira in which Naseem Akhtar, Abdul Gani, Sanjeev Bhasin, Parvesh Malik, Yograj and Prof. Lalit Mangotra presented their poetries. Prof. Lalit Mangotra was the Chief Guest, while Anil Sehgal presided over the function.
Later, Musical ensemble based on Dogri folk songs was presented by Jammu and Kashmir’s renowned artists Rakesh Anand and Rakesh Jasotra on flute, Sahil Jasotra on Tabla, Joginder Pal on Dholak, Ravi Raghuvanshi on Shehnai, Vishal Gupta on Harmonium, Swaranjot Singh on Santoor, Rakesh Kumar on percussions and Sonu on Dhol.
After this, Master Kartar Chand and his group presented a Pahari folk song. The program concluded with the Dogri folk dance Jagarna presented by Ravi Sharma and group. Amar Chouhan conducted the proceedings of the event in a professional manner.
