Udampur, Nov 21 : Police in Udampur district claimed to have registered a case against an auto driver who was found to be operating in a reckless and negligent manner.
An official told that an auto bearing registration number JK14G3829 was stopped for inspection.
The auto, driven by Jeet Singh, son of Mukhtityar Singh, a resident of Kotli Baala, Udhampur, was found to be operating in a reckless and negligent manner.
Upon investigation, it was discovered that the auto was carrying 16 passengers, exceeding its permitted capacity of 8 passengers. As a result, Jeet Singh was immediately taken into custody, and the vehicle was seized on the spot.
He said Udhampur Police registered a case, FIR No. 591/2023 U/S 279336 IPC, against the accused driver.
Meanwhile, Udhampur Police also issued a stern warning, stating that strict legal action will be taken against those who violate these regulations. (KS)
