Bemina, Srinagar Dec 3, 2023 – The Voluntary Medicare Society (VMS) proudly observed World
Disability Day within its premises on December 3, 2023, with a series of impactful events aimed at
fostering awareness, understanding, and inclusivity.
The day commenced with interactive sessions that provided a platform for insights, and shared
experiences, creating a bridge of understanding between individuals with disabilities and the community
at large. The insightful awareness program included informative sessions, shedding light on the
challenges faced by those with disabilities and promoting the importance of inclusivity.
Adding a creative touch to the observance, the event featured skits that beautifully conveyed
powerful messages, emphasizing the capabilities and resilience of individuals with disabilities. The
performances resonated with the audience, leaving a lasting impression on the significance of unity and
support.
The event witnessed the presence of esteemed guests from various walks of life, including the
Chief Guest Jenab Zareef Ahmad Zareef, Veteran Kashmiri poet, writer, social activist and
environmentalist, the Guest of Honor Mr. Jehangir Bakhshi, secretary District Legal Services Authority
Srinagar, Mr Faisal Ali Dar Padma Shree Awardee (Kick Boxing) and the Special Guest Mrs Roma Wani.
Their participation contributed to the diverse perspectives shared during the commemoration.
Dr. Mir Mohammad Maqbool, President of Voluntary Medicare Society, delivered a speech
emphasizing the society’s commitment to inclusivity, advocacy, and the continuous support for
individuals with disabilities. His inspiring words resonated with the audience, reinforcing the importance
of collective efforts in building a more inclusive society.
As the event concluded, Prof. Masooda Yasin, Secretary of VMS, expressed gratitude through a
sincere vote of thanks. She acknowledged the contributions of the guests, participants, and volunteers,
highlighting the collaborative spirit that made the World Disability Day observance a resounding
success.

By the end of the event Certificate of Appreciation and Prizes were given to the persons who
made distinguished contribution towards the empowerment of PwDs.
