In August 2019, the Indian government’s decision to revoke Article 370, which granted special autonomy to Jammu and Kashmir, brought significant changes to the region. The move sought to integrate Kashmir more closely with the rest of India. The move brought forth the applicability of all legislations of the Indian Parliament reflecting integration of the state in its true sense. It also helped bring about the empowerment and upliftment of the backward sections of society especially scheduled tribes and scheduled castes into the mainstream, opening avenues for their growth and welfare. It was a vital decision to ensure equal rights of women at par with any other citizen of the nation, which were erstwhile denied to them based on malicious implementation of the state laws without any opportunity for legal recourse.
The recent development has which brought about a sense of trust and oneness, increasing the interaction between people leading to exposure of the youth to the unimaginable scope for growth. This ultimately brought positive changes in the standard of living and prosperity to the region. The call for sustained peace and prosperity was evident from the dramatic decrease in the instances of violence providing opportunities to the populace to participate and exploit the fruits of the nation’s economic development in recent times.Despite being the victim of Pak sponsored terrorism in the region for nearly three decades, shown remarkable resilience and a strong identity. They continue to navigate the socio-Political, stability andeconomic development. Development and investment initiatives in sectors such as tourism and agriculture are seen as key steps towards improving livelihoods and a brighter future for the region.
