Srinagar, 30 Sep: AGMUT Cadre IPS officer currently serving as Director General of Police Jammu and Kashmir is retiring from his service today.
Swain was given additional charge of DGP J&K in October 2023, and was posted as permanent DGP J&K in August this year till 30 September.
As per details available with Daily Spark News, An AGMUT-1991 cadre officer Senior Indian Police Service (IPS) RR Swaim has served J&K at multiple levels, before taking over additional charge of DGP J&K in November 2023 Swaim was special director general in Jammu and Kashmir police (SDGP).
Swain also served as police chief in Jammu and Srinagar and had an extensive tenure of 15 years on central deputation. He was also the senior superintendent of Ramban, Poonch and Leh.
The officer returned to the state cadre in 2020, where he was posted as intelligence chief in June 2023, replacing senior IPS officer B Srinivas.
Swain had also served in the J&K vigilance organisation in 2004-06 as AIG and DIG.
The senior officer Nalin Prabhat will take over as DGP of Jammu and Kashmir police on October 1.
In an order issued by MHA last month reads, “Consequent upon joining the AGMUT cadre on inter-cadre deputation from AP cadre, Prabhat is hereby posted as Special DG, J&K police with immediate effect and till September 30. Further, upon retirement of R R Swain, IPS of 1991-batch of AGMUT-cadre on September 30, Prabhat is appointed as DGP, J&K police from October 1, and until further orders.” (DSN)
