Srinagar, 1 Oct : In a poignant moment during the ongoing elections in Sopore, the fathers of two active militants, Umar and Bilal from Brath Kalan, made a heartfelt plea for their sons to renounce violence and return home.

The emotional appeal was made as both fathers exercised their right to vote, hoping to set an example of reconciliation and peace.

Speaking to local media as per news agency Kashmir Bulletin, the fathers expressed deep anguish over their sons’ involvement in militant activities. They urged Umar and Bilal, who have been on the run for years, to give up arms and choose a path of peace. “Our doors are always open for you.

Please come back, live a life of dignity and peace with your family,” one of the fathers said with tears in his eyes, they said.

Their appeal comes at a time when the region is witnessing renewed efforts to bring militants back into the fold of society through rehabilitation programs and government initiatives. The fathers emphasized that violence brings nothing but grief and urged other families facing similar situations to support peace and dialogue.

The emotional message from the fathers has struck a chord with many in the community, sparking discussions about the impact of militancy on families and the importance of giving individuals a second chance to reintegrate into society.

Both families remain hopeful that their sons will heed their call and return to a life of peace. “We want them to know that no matter what has happened, we are ready to embrace them and help them start afresh,” the families reiterated as they cast their votes for a better future.

Their plea serves as a powerful reminder of the human cost of conflict and the enduring hope that peace and reconciliation can prevail in even the most difficult circumstances. (KB)
