Territorial Army has a rich history of serving the Nation with honour and distinction, be it in war, internal security, aid civil authorities or contributing towards preservation of our ecological system. The 75th Raising Day of the Territorial Army was celebrated across the country on 09 Oct 2023. Lieutenant General Gajendra Joshi, AVSM, SM, Director General Territorial Army paid . tributes to the fallen heroes of Territorial Army by laying a wreath at the National War Memorial.
The celebrations commenced with a Half-Marathon on 02 Oct 2023 that was organised from Army Parade Ground which saw enthusiastic participation from all walks of society.
On 06 Oct newly made “HERBAL GARDEN” was inaugurated at Bhatti Mines in Delhi, wherein more than 5000 herbal saplings were planted by NCC students, volunteers and TA personals. The Ecological Task Forces of TA have so far planted more than 10 Crore trees in various parts of the country. On the same day in the evening, the serving personnels, families and Veer Naris of the Territorial Army called on Smt Droupadi Murmu, President & Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces. Following this, a Blood Donation Camp was held at 124 Infantry Battalion (TA) SIKH in Delhi on 07 Oct 23 in which TA personnels and their families took part voluntarily. The wives of Territorial Army personnel visited an orphanage to spend time with the children and donated essential items/ gifts to them.
Territorial Army also have 10 Ecological Battalions working for restoration of environment in the country by carrying out afforestation in rugged and inhospitable terrain, reviving wetlands, restoring water bodies and contributing towards Clean Ganga project. TA Battalions also perform specialist tasks in support of Indian Railways and Oil Sector Undertakings in critical situations.
