Sopore, Oct 17: An intensive campaign to raise public awareness about HIV/AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs) was held in north Kashmir’s Sopore on Thursday.
During the day-long event, around 200 people from different parts of the Sopore belt participated.
In attendance were Dy Director of Health Kashmir Dr. Rouf Ahmad, Dy Director Monika Duloo, Dy Director Nisar Ahmad, ADC Sopore S.A Raina CMO Dr. Mastoora, BMO Dr. Zulufkar, Assistant Director of J&K AIDS Control Dr. Imtiyaz Ahmad,Tehsildar Bomai Mr Zahid Hussain , as well as SDPO, SHO, health employees, and members of civil society.
Speakers encouraged attendees to take advantage of the health facilities provided by the state government, which offer testing for various diseases in a single camp.
They emphasized that health is invaluable and urged the community to stay away from drugs and alcohol in order to maintain their well-being.
The primary goal of the program was to raise awareness about HIV, promote safe practices, and reduce stigma and discrimination within society.
