“Install railings along vulnerable stretches prone to accidents”

Reasi, Nov 7,: In a fatal road accident in the Reasi district of Jammu region, three persons including a father and his 10-year-old daughter were killed while an equal number of people sustained injuries.

Local sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that an accident occurred on Thursday morning in the Ganjote area of Mahore Tehsil of Reasi district, resulting in the deaths of three individuals, including a father-daughter duo. “A brand new Bolero vehicle (JK20C 7280) lost control and plunged into a gorge around 8 AM,” they said adding a total of six persons including two girls were in the vehicle at the time of the mishap.

The locals said that three persons died on the spot while three critically injured were shifted in a local vehicle to Community Health Centre Mahore for treatment. The locals alleged that no rescue team from the government turned up in time.

Hospital sources identified the deceased as Manzoor Ahmed (40), his daughter Ulfat Jan (10), and Bashir Ahmed (28), all residents of Dewal village Mahore Reasi.

The injured have been identified as Ghulam Mohiuddin (42), Shabir Ahmed (36), and Irtika Jan (9). They all were later shifted to District Hospital Reasi for specialized treatment.

Meanwhile, locals demanded the installation of railings and breakers along the road, particularly at vulnerable stretches prone to accidents. “At least these railings will stop a vehicle from falling into the deep gorges thereby saving precious lives,” they told KNT.
