SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 09: Commissioner Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC), Dr. Owais Ahmed Saturday reviewed the snow clearance and dewatering preparedness in Srinagar city during a comprehensive meeting held at the SMC Central Office, Karan Nagar.
The meeting focused on creating a strategic plan for the deployment of men and machinery for snow clearance and dewatering operations across all municipal wards to ensure residents do not face inconvenience during winter.
The Commissioner emphasized the importance of prioritizing snow clearance and dewatering operations in key areas and on roads leading to essential destinations, including hospitals, ration depots, educational institutions and government offices.
To further streamline snow management, Dr. Owais directed the snow monitoring committee and the 24×7 Control Room to remain fully prepared for immediate response and coordination of snow clearance efforts. “The 24×7 Control Room must be fully responsive to the public to facilitate prompt and efficient snow clearance,” the Commissioner stressed.
Regarding dewatering operations, the Commissioner instructed that all permanent dewatering stations in the city be made fully operational.
Additionally, Dr Owais emphasized the importance of utilizing mobile pumps to address water logging in various areas promptly. These efforts aim to ensure Srinagar remains accessible and resilient, even in adverse weather conditions.
The meeting was attended by Senior Officers, including Joint Commissioners, Executive Engineers, Chief Sanitation Officer, Chief Transport Officer, Stores Officer, and other SMC staff.
