Srinagar: The district administration on Thursday reviewed the safety and security measures for the workers at the mega project construction sites in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district.
The Deputy Commissioner Baramulla, Minga Sherpa, accompanied by Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Baramulla Gurinderpal Singh, Additional Deputy Commissioner Sopore Shabir Ahmad Raina and Superintendent of Police Sopore Divya Dev, conducted an extensive visit to various mega project construction sites across the district, including Hadipora, Sangrama, Delina, Palhallan, and other locations today.
This visit aimed to assess the safety and security measures in place to enhance surveillance, deter untoward incidents, and safeguard laborers’ well-being.
During the inspection, the DC emphasized the importance of maintaining a secure and safe working environment for the workforce.
He directed the concerned authorities to install CCTV cameras and ensure adequate lighting at all construction and accommodation sites.
The DC and his team interacted with workers on-site, assuring them of the administration’s commitment to their safety and welfare.
He urged project teams to strictly adhere to safety protocols while expediting construction work to meet deadlines without compromising on safety standards.
The DC emphasized the necessity of a robust security framework and said that the administration is committed to creating a secure and conducive environment for labourers who are an integral part of these developmental initiatives.
Pertinent to mention that on October 21 militants attacked a construction team working on the Z-Morh tunnel, which connects Gaganeer to Sonamarg in Ganderbal district killing seven persons including a local doctor.
