Jaipur: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) continued its dominance in the by-polls by winning five assembly seats on Saturday while the main opposition party Congress was able to save only one seat.
Due to the atmosphere in the country in favour of BJP and its allies and the efficient leadership of the state Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma, the public expressed faith in the ruling BJP by making it win five out of seven seats in the by-elections.
In the by-election, the BJP not only retained its Sanlubar seat, but it also succeeded in snatching Jhunjhunu, Ramgarh and Deoli-Uniara assembly seats from the Congress, while this time the BJP also bagged the Khinwsar seat, which was dominated by MP Hanuman Beniwal since the beginning. Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) had political dominance in Khinwsar.
However, the BJP could not reduce the political dominance of Bharat Adivasi Party (BAP) in Chaurasi and BAP retained its seat there. In Congress dominated Jhunjhunu, BJP candidate Rajendra Bhambu won and he defeated his nearest rival Congress candidate Amit Ola by the highest margin of 42,848 votes.
BJP snatched this seat from Congress. Bhambu got 90,425 votes while Ola got 47,577 votes. In Jhunjhunu, former minister and independent candidate Rajendra Gudha remained at third place and he got 38,751 votes.
Similarly, in the Congress dominated Ramgarh seat, BJP candidate Sukhwant Singh won and he defeated his nearest rival and Congress candidate Aryan Zubair by a margin of 13,636 votes. BJP snatched this seat from Congress.
Sukhwant Singh got 1.811 lakh votes while Aryan Zubair got 95,175 votes. BJP also registered victory in Khinwsar and there BJP candidate Revantram Danga defeated his nearest rival and RLP candidate Kanika Beniwal by 13,901 votes. BJP snatched this seat from RLP. Congress candidate Dr Ratan Chaudhary remained at third place in Khinwsar and he got only 5454 votes.
Former minister and BJP candidate Rajendra Gurjar won in Deoli-Uniara and he defeated independent candidate Naresh Meena by 41,121 votes. BJP snatched this seat from Congress.
Gurjar got 1.0599 lakh votes while Naresh Meena got 59,478 votes and Congress candidate Kastur Chand Meena got 31,385 votes.
BJP’s Shanta Amritlal Meena won the election from Sanlubar and defeated BAP candidate Jitesh Kumar Katara by 1,285 votes. In the by-election, Shanta Meena got 84,428 votes while Katara got 83,143 votes and Congress’ Reshma Meena got 26,760 votes.
In the Dausa Assembly constituency, Congress’ Deendayal Bairwa succeeded in winning the by-election and defeated BJP candidate Jagmohan, brother of state Agriculture Minister Dr Kirori Lal Meena, by 2,300 votes.
Bairwa got 75,536 votes whereas Jagmohan got 73,236 votes. In the by-election, BAP candidate Anil Kumar Katara was victorious on Chaurasi seat and defeated his nearest rival BJP candidate Kari Lal Nanoma by 24,370 votes.
