Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Srinagar; Psychotropic substances recovered

Srinagar: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Srinagar have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered Psychotropic substances from their possession.

A Police party of Police Station Nigeen at a checkpoint established at Foreshore Road near public park Habbak intercepted a vehicle (Alto car) bearing registration No: JK01AL-6614 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Haris Bilal son of Bilal Ahmed Dar resident of Ellahibagh and Sameer Ahmad Bhat son of Ghulam Ahmad Bhat resident of Buchpora Srinagar. During search of the vehicle, 10 grams of charas like substance and 14 strips (140 Tablets) of banned drug was recovered. Both the accused have been arrested and vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.176/2024 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and further investigation has been initiated.

We urge the common masses that if you witness drug peddling or any other crime anywhere near you, feel free to contact the nearest police establishment or dial 112. The general public is requested to cooperate with Police in curbing the menace of drugs from the society. We reassure the community members that police will act tough against the criminals as per law.
