Washington: Canada is planning to create the office of Arctic ambassador, Foreign Minister Melanie Joly said on Friday.
Earlier in the day, Joly announced that Canada is launching a new foreign policy strategy with regard to the Arctic region. As part of the new policy, Canada will bolster its military presence to “protect” its Arctic and continental security alongside the US and will increase cooperation with its Arctic and NATO allies, the minister said.
“Our four pillars is focused on people and ensuring we have the right voices around the table. Canada will now have an Arctic ambassador,” Joly said.
