Srinagar: A minor boy was killed in a leopard attack in Mawer area in North Kashmir’s Handwara.

An official told news agency JKNS that a 4-year-old boy identified as Mohammad Hasnain, son of Nissar Ahmad Teli, of Shirhama Handwara, was attacked and whisked away by a leopard. “The boy was playing with his friends, when the incident took place,” the official said.

“A rescue operation was launched to trace the minor and after an hour of searches, the boy was rescued and taken to a nearby health facility,” the official said, adding, “The boy was shifted to GMC Handwara, where he succumbed later on.”

The incident has caused anguish among the locals, who claim the fresh attack as part of a spate of attacks witnessed in the area in last few months. (JKNS)
