Srinagar: As winter tightens its grip, minimum temperatures across Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh have dropped significantly, with Gulmarg emerging as the coldest place in the region at -9.0°C.
As per the details shared by the Kashmir Weather, as accessed by the news agency JKNS, in the Kashmir region, Pahalgam recorded -6.8°C, while Pulwama and Shopian shivered at -6.7°C and -7.5°C, respectively. Srinagar registered -3.3°C, and Sonamarg and Anantnag reported -7.0°C each. The southern areas, including Qazigund and Kokernag, saw temperatures at -5.2°C and -4.4°C. Larnoo recorded -7.9°C, among the lowest in the region.
It reads as, in the Jammu region, Padder recorded the coldest temperature at -7.5°C, followed by Banihal at -3.1°C. Jammu city, however, remained relatively warmer at 6.5°C. Ramban recorded the highest minimum at 9.2°C, while Samba and Kathua saw 2.3°C and 7.0°C, respectively.
Also, Ladakh continues to experience extreme cold, with Leh recording -12.8°C. Data for Kargil and Drass was unavailable.
Similarly, the weatherman predicted, light rain and is expected over some areas of Jammu plains and hilly areas, while higher reaches of Kashmir may experience light snow during the late evening of December 8 to the morning of December 9.—(JKNS)
