Srinagar: The Srinagar Police today arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police spokesperson in a statement to the news agency JKNS said, a party from Maisuma, during a routine patrol near Lal Chowk, intercepted two suspicious individuals at the Multi-Level Car Parking area in Sheik Bagh, Lal Chowk. He said, the duo attempted to flee but were successfully apprehended.
He said, upon conducting a search, the police found Charas-like substances wrapped in maize cover sticks and 200 grams of open Charas-like substances concealed in two jute-matting bags.
“The arrested individuals have been identified as Asif Mehdi (son of Ghulam Mohiuddin Malik) and Faisal Haroon (son of Irfan Haroon), both residents of Rakh Arth Bemina, Srinagar,” said the spokesperson, adding a case (FIR No. 28/2024) has been registered at Police Station Maisuma under the relevant sections of the law, and further investigations are currently underway.—(JKNS)
