Srinagar: The Food Safety Department under the Drug and Food Control Organization carried out an extensive inspection and sampling drive targeting Nanwaei (Kashmiri roti makers) across Srinagar city on Wednesday.
As per the details available with the news agency JKNS, the primary goal of the drive was to ensure that the Kashmiri roti being prepared and sold to consumers adheres to proper hygiene and quality standards.
During the inspection, some Nanwaei were found violating the established sanitary standards, leading to the imposition of penalties under Section 69 of the Food Safety and Standards Act.
The details read samples of Maida and prepared dough were collected during the drive for further analysis to verify quality standards.
Similarly, Assistant Commissioner of Food Safety, Yameen ul Nabi, told JKNS such drives will continue across Srinagar to monitor food safety. “Strict action will be taken against anyone found violating hygiene norms in accordance with the Food Safety and Standards Act,” he said.—(JKNS)
