Buyer-Seller Meet on Saffron and Temperate Spices 2024 Held at SKICC, Srinagar

Srinagar: The Spices Board of India, under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, organized the Buyer-Seller Meet on Saffron and Temperate Spices 2024 at the Sher-e-Kashmir International Convention Centre (SKICC) in Srinagar.

The event brought together a diverse group of stakeholders, including exporters, traders, representatives of Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), farmers, and officials from various departments of the Government of Jammu and Kashmir, along with officials from the Spices Board.

 

The programme was attended by notable dignitaries, including Dr. M. K. Verma, Director, ICAR-CITH; Deputy Director, Agriculture, Kashmir, Director, Horticulture, Kashmir and Prof. Bashir Ilahi, Head, ARSSSS (Advanced Research Station for Saffron and Seed Spices).

 

While welcoming the participants, the organizers emphasized the significance of spices as a vital component of India’s cultural and economic heritage. Spices not only enrich the flavor of our food but also play an integral role to industries such as medicine, nutrition, cosmetics, confectionery, and lifestyle.

 

The Buyer-Seller Meet served as a platform to foster meaningful connections and collaborations between stakeholders in the spice sector, with a special focus on the saffron and temperate spices of the region.

 

The Spices Board reaffirmed its commitment to addressing challenges faced by the spice sector and promoting the export of high-quality spices from Jammu and Kashmir. The board also highlighted its proactive role in supporting farmers, traders, and exporters, ensuring sustained growth and global recognition of Indian spices.

 

The Spices Board of India thanked all participants and dignitaries for their active involvement in making the event a success.
