Addressing a media she provided key statistics, revealing a total of 56 registered cases, 88 arrests, contraband valued at Rs 65,07,822 on the black market, and attached property worth Rs 37,41,401. Says, noteworthy seizures included 102 grams of Brown Sugar worth Rs 13,26,000 and 8.052 kilograms of Charas valued at Rs 40,26,000.
As per the news agency JKNS, the Superintendent of Police (SP) Sopore, Divya-D, while addressing a year-end press conference, highlighted the achievements of the Sopore Police District in combating crime and drug-related activities during 2024.
She presented key statistics, including a total of 56 registered cases, 88 arrests, contraband valued at Rs 65,07,822 on the black market, two cases involving attached property, and attached property valued at Rs 37,41,401.
The SP further mentioned that the Sopore Police reported noteworthy seizures of illegal substances throughout the year. These included Brown Sugar (102 grams) worth Rs 13,26,000, Heroin (23 grams) worth Rs 2,99,000, Charas (8.052 kilograms) worth Rs 40,26,000, Poppy Straw (9.212 kilograms) worth Rs 5,98,780, Codeine Phosphate (186 bottles) worth Rs 26,970, and Spasmo-Praxyvon (11,832 capsules) worth Rs 1,19,436.
Regarding the destruction of drugs, she stated that the police successfully destroyed a significant quantity of contraband. This included Poppy Straw/Fukki (123.728 kilograms) worth Rs 80,42,320, Codeine Bottles (2,811 bottles) worth Rs 4,07,595, and Capsules (28,316 capsules) worth Rs 28,59,916.
Additionally, concerning the eradication of illegal wild bung, the Sopore Police, in collaboration with revenue and other concerned departments, destroyed wild bung cultivated on 15 kanals of state land, emphasizing their commitment to curbing illegal activities. —(JKNS)
