Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir government has initiated an enquiry into Doon International School, Srinagar, following concerns raised over the high prices of books sold at the school.
This comes after a social media post highlighted the exorbitant cost of books for Grade 1 students.
A user on X (formerly Twitter) as per news agency JKNS posted a picture of a receipt for book purchases, tagging Education Minister @sakinaitoo, with the caption, “Here is what Doon School books cost. This amount was paid for Grade first. Hope action is taken for such exorbitant prices.”
In response, the Education Minister assured that an enquiry had been initiated into the matter.
The minister has earlier stassed on schools that no school would be allowed to fix their own book prices, reiterating that only JKBose-approved books should be purchased. (JKNS)
