Baghdad:  Six people, including students, were injured on Sunday in a shooting incident inside a private university in Iraq’s capital Baghdad, a source from the Iraqi Interior Ministry said.

The incident occurred around noon when a student of al-Esraa University in Karrada neighborhood entered the campus and opened fire with a pistol, wounding four students, a university teacher, and a guard, the source told Xinhua on condition of anonymity.

The attacker tried to flee the scene but the security forces arrested him and seized his pistol, the source said.

Iraqi security forces have launched an investigation into the incident, the source added.
