Bandipora: A hear-trending tragedy occurred yesterday when an Indian Army vehicle skidded off the road and went into a gorge due to heavy rains and poor visibility.

It took life of four brave soldiers, but it was also a reminder of the indomitable spirit of Kashmiriyat as locals flocked to the scene to help.

The crash’s deafening sound reverberated across the region, supplanting the serenity of the place with cries of anguish. After the crash came an impressive demonstration of community solidarity: within hours, people of S K Payeen were quickly mobilized to rescue injured soldiers and take them for treatment.

Gulam Rasool, a local resident, summed up the collective response: It was simply our duty. In moments of crisis, we stand together. “This is what Kashmiriyat is all about—helping those in need, no matter who they are,” Rasool told the news agency—JKNS.

Despite their best efforts, four soldiers tragically succumbed to their injuries. The fallen soldiers were identified as Havildar Hari Ram Rewar, Lance Havildar Pawan Kumar, Lance Naik Jitendr Kumar Yadav, and Lance Naik Nitish Kumar.

“It didn’t matter who they were; they were in need, and we couldn’t stand by. Kashmiriyat is all about helping one another, regardless of circumstances. We did what we had to do because that’s how we’ve been raised—to look out for each other, especially in times of crisis,” said Mohammad Ramzan, another local resident.

Still, their loss was greatly grieved, but the local people didn’t fail to show the world that they were bold. The Indian Army praised and appreciated the modest dedication of locals in it all for putting all for humanity in their hearts. “In the Field of Glory, their Spirits Reside ~ Forever Young, Forever Our Guide,” the Army paid tribute.

To honor the fallen soldiers, officials from the Indian Army’s Chinar Corps, Chinar Warriors, CRPF, and BSF visited the site to pay their respects. “The courage and sacrifice of these heroes will never be forgotten, and we are forever grateful to the residents of S K Payeen for their bravery and kindness during this tragic incident,” the Army expressed in a tweet.

Their bravery will forever echo through time. Though they have fallen, their sacrifice lives on in every Kashmiri heart. This is the true essence of Kashmiriyat-the spirit of unity, compassion and sacrifice that transcends all boundaries.

It’s worth mentioning, tragedy not only marks the loss of brave soldiers but also reminds us of eternal values of Kashmiriyat, which is a deeply rooted sense of compassion and oneness that keeps shining even during the darkest hours of time.—(JKNS)
