PDP leaders, locals remember Visionary leader’s legacy of Peace, Unity, and Development

Srinagar: As the morning unfolded in South Kashmir’s Bijbehara, Dara Shikoh Park came alive with a large crowd arriving to pay tribute to late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the revered leader and founder of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The atmosphere at the park was both emotional and respectful, with people from across the Valley gathering to honor the visionary leader.

According to details gathered by news agency—JKNS, men, women, and people of all ages visited Bijbehara area to express their heartfelt condolences. Among the attendees were PDP President Mehbooba Mufti, her daughter Iltija Mufti, PDP leader and MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra, along with several senior party officials.

On the occasion, PDP leader and MLA Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra said, Mufti Sahab’s greatest contribution wasn’t just limited to two nations but extended to uniting Delhi and Kashmir, as well as a divided Jammu and Kashmir.

“His dream of making borders irrelevant and opening all routes—whether Muzaffarabad, Rawalakot, or Poonch—came true. These routes, which had remained closed for 70 years, despite mandates or sacrifices, were opened under his leadership. By doing so, he proved that Kashmir’s future lies not in confinement or closed borders but in opening pathways,” he said.

“We are here today not only to honor his legacy, vision, and the steps he took, but also to ensure that we carry it forward,” Waheed added.

Meanwhile, local resident Mushtaq Ahmad remarked, “Mufti Sahab was a true leader who cared deeply about the future of Kashmir. His vision for peace and development has had a lasting impact on our lives.”

Another attendee from Central Kashmir added, “Mufti Sahab’s legacy is unparalleled. His commitment to the welfare of the people and his vision of peace and dignity will always inspire us.”

Also the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) shared a tribute on X (formerly Twitter), stating: To honor his memory, party workers from across the Valley gathered at Dara Shikoh, Bijbehara, on the ninth death anniversary of Late Mufti Mohammad Sayeed Sahab. Mufti Sahab’s vision of peace with dignity continues to live on in the hearts of the people.

In another post, PDP President Mehbooba Mufti wrote: Heartfelt gratitude to PDP leaders & workers who braved the frigid winter and attended Mufti Sayeed Sahab’s ninth death anniversary at Dara Shikoh in Bijbehara today.

It is worth mentioning, the gathering was marked by emotional speeches and a strong sense of unity. Across Kashmir, people remembered Mufti Sayeed as a leader who tirelessly worked for peace, harmony, and development. His efforts to bridge the gap between the people and the administration were praised by attendees—(JKNS)
