Bhubaneswar: Union External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday highlighted Odisha’s potential in the 3Ts—trade, technology, and tourism—positioning the state as an excellent investment destination.

Addressing the Pravasi Bharatiya Business Leaders’ meeting on the sidelines of the 25th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas, Jaishankar emphasized the Narendra Modi government’s steadfast commitment to Mission Purvodaya and Odisha’s vital role in its success.

He said, “We often use the term ‘living bridge’ for Pravasi visitors. The fact is, India is unique as a rising global power that has leveraged, continues to leverage, and will further utilize its diaspora as an essential pathway for globalization and its rise in the international order.”

Jaishankar added, “If you look at the history of the modern world, no country has grown in isolation. Every nation has grown through global partnerships. At this time, for us, those partnerships will supplement resources and infuse technology.”

He also spoke about the historical significance of Odisha, stating, “We have long discussed the Look East Policy, which has its historical origins in Odisha’s Bali Yatra. The state’s connection to Southeast Asia began here.

Today, this eastward connection continues to thrive. In recent discussions in Singapore, where we have a ministerial mechanism, one of the key topics was Green Shipping Corridors. Whether it’s traditional shipping, green shipping, power grids, or value-added resources, Odisha’s trade potential is immense.”

On technology, Jaishankar noted, “Odisha’s talent pool, its young demographic, and strong educational foundation offer numerous opportunities for collaboration in technology.”

Regarding tourism, he said, “Odisha is incredible in terms of what it offers. My recent visit allowed me to witness some of its tourism potential firsthand. Tourism is not just about aesthetic satisfaction; it is a major investment opportunity and the largest generator of employment globally. Those investing in Odisha’s tourism sector contribute significantly to inclusive growth and development.”

Jaishankar further said, “Beyond the message of the double-engine government, I bring you the message of the 3Ts—Trade with and from Odisha, Technology, and Tourism. These dimensions are key to what Odisha has to offer.”

He concluded by stating, “India reached its historical zenith when its eastern regions flourished. The third term of Prime Minister Modi’s government focuses on making practical decisions to ensure the success of Purvodaya, with Odisha as a crucial fulcrum.”
