Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir Police in Baramulla have claimed to have cracked the case of a grenade attack on an Army camp in Hamray Pattan, apprehending three individuals, including a former terrorist, within a day of the incident.

The attack, which took place on January 7, targeted the 163 Territorial Army MI Room, causing damage to the roof but resulting in no injuries.

Speaking at a press briefing, Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Baramulla, Feroz Yehya, credited the swift response from police teams for the breakthrough.

“The arrested individuals include a surrendered terrorist, his son, and another person believed to be the main planner of the attack,” Yehya said. He noted that the mastermind had been evading arrest for two years and was also involved in drug-related activities.

The police have not disclosed the identities of those arrested due to the ongoing probe. “We are investigating if there are connections between this incident and other criminal cases,” he said. He added that there are concerns over the reactivation of surrendered terrorists, which he said was creating mistrust between police and their families.

Meanwhile, the investigation is continuing to uncover further details and possible links to other incidents. —(JKNS)
