Srinagar: The Agricultural and Horticultural Society of Newa and adjoining villages has expressed gratitude to the government for its efforts in prioritizing sustainable development and safeguarding horticultural lands in the region.
In a statement issued here to news agency JKNS reads, the society lauded the government’s commitment to preserving the horticultural landscape and fostering a conducive environment for agripreneurs and horticulturists.
The society noted that the horticultural sector in Jammu & Kashmir has the potential to contribute Rs 1500 crore to the economy within the next decade, provided sustainable practices are implemented. “The preservation of these pure horticultural lands is a crucial step towards achieving environmentally responsible growth,” the statement read.
It added that the government’s assurances to local agripreneurs have instilled renewed confidence and optimism. “By supporting farmers with resources, infrastructure, and policy measures, the administration is creating an ecosystem that fosters innovation, enhances productivity, and improves market accessibility.”
The society further emphasized the importance of balancing economic growth with environmental protection. “The government’s focus on sustainable practices aligns with global ecological responsibility and ensures that agricultural development does not come at the cost of environmental degradation,” it stated.
