Kolkata: India’s fast bowler Mohammad Shami is back on track and fully fit after recovering from injury, marking his return to competitive cricket at a familiar venue – Eden Gardens.

Known for his impressive performances here in the past, Shami’s return to the iconic ground signals the beginning of a new chapter in his cricketing career.

A heartwarming video shared by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on X showed India’s Bowling Coach Morne Morkel welcoming Shami back with a handshake and a hug. The pacer, who last represented India during the ODI World Cup final against Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium, is now set to make his comeback to Team India after a period of recuperation. The video was shared on Monday.

Shami’s arrival was met with a warm reception from the Indian squad, who celebrated his return with a team huddle. Eager to return to his best form, the bowler began his training with a series of loosening-up exercises before heading to the nets.

Once at the nets, Shami quickly got into full swing, impressing with his trademark pace and accuracy. In a memorable moment, he was seen exchanging insights with the Bowling Coach on techniques for swinging the ball.

As the training progressed, Shami intensified his efforts, delivering full-throttle bowling that left a lasting impression. The pacer also took time to engage with all-rounder Hardik Pandya, discussing various bowling tricks.

At the end of the session, Shami connected with his fans, signing autographs for those who had gathered to watch him in action at Eden Gardens. His bond with his supporters remains as strong as ever, highlighting his dedication to the game.

Shami’s return to the domestic circuit and his focused training sessions have set the stage for his eagerly anticipated international comeback, with India preparing for their T20 match against England, scheduled to begin on January 22. Shami’s presence in the squad could prove pivotal as India looks ahead to future challenges.
