Patna/ Kishangani: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar announced developmental projects worth Rs 514. 28 crore for Kishanganj district.
During the second phase of his Pragati Yatra, Kumar visited Kishanganj on Tuesday where he inaugurated and laid the foundation stones of 236 projects.
Kumar reviewed the progress of various ongoing projects in the district and after spot verification directed the authorities to complete the schemes related to infrastructure including roads within the stipulated period for the convenience of the people.
He announced the construction of bridges over rivers Mahananda and Kankai in the district and asked the authorities to take up the desiltation work in the Ramzan river.
To provide a better electricity supply, the Chief Minister said that a power substation would be constructed in Bahadurganj block.
During his visit the Chief Minister distributed cheques of various schemes among the beneficiaries.
The Chief Minister also inspected the Aadarsh Gram Panchayat developed as a model at Halamala Gram Panchayat in the district.
Kumar gave a token cheque of Rs 137 crore to 11 thousand 486 self-help groups, Rs 14 crore 33 lakh to 2305 self-help groups, and Rs 5 crore 40 lakh to 306 self-help groups to earn their livelihood.
Later while talking to the newspersons Kumar reiterated his commitment to work for the overall progress of Bihar.
Meanwhile, District Magistrate of Kishanganj Vishal Raj during the review meeting apprised the Chief Minister with the progress of the ongoing schemes and various projects.
