Ensure foolproof arrangements on Shab-e-Meraj (SAW) & Friday Following: Div Com Kashmir directs officers

SRINAGAR: To ensure availability of essential services at shrines and prominent Mosques across the valley on the auspicious occasion of Shab-e-Meraj (SAW) & Friday Following, Divisional Commissioner (Div Com) Kashmir, Vijay Kumar Bidhuri convened a meeting on Wednesday and instructed officers to make adequate arrangements to facilitate devotees.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Commissioners, SSP Srinagar, SSP Traffic Srinagar, SSP Traffic Rural, and officers from the Waqf Board, Legal Metrology, Information, Roads and Buildings, Srinagar Municipal Corporation, Food Safety, FCS&CA, Fire and Emergency Services, Health, SRTC, SSCL, KPDCL, PHE, ULB, and other concerned departments.
The meeting deliberated over various facilities including uninterrupted power and water supply, illumination, medical facility camps, availability of essential items, transportation and parking, traffic management, security deployment, sanitation, fire safety, stray dog control and mobile toilet vans.
Addressing the meeting, Div Com issued instructions to Deputy Commissioners to make foolproof arrangements to facilitate devotees in their respective districts, particularly at Assar-e-Sharief Hazratbal, Aasari-e-Sharief Kalashpora, Jenab Sahib Soura, Ziayarat Sharief Kabamarg, Ziyarat Sharief Khirram (Anantnag), Ziyarat Sharief Makhama (Budgam), and Ziyarat Aham-e-Sharief (Bandipora).
On this occasion, the Div Com instructed KPDCL to ensure uninterrupted power supply across the valley on the eve of Shab-e-Meraj and the Friday Following.
SRTC and SSCL were directed to arrange transportation services on designated routes to transport devotees to Hazratbal Shrine.
The Srinagar Municipal Corporation was asked to conduct a sanitation drive at important Shrines & Mosques in the City and ensure stray dog-free surroundings at the Hazratbal shrine.
Div Com directed officers of Waqf Board to install waterproof tents within the premises of Hazratbal Shrine.
Jal Shakti Department was asked to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water at all the religious places besides to keep water tankers available at Hazratbal Shrine.
Similarly, all concerned departments were instructed to provide uninterrupted services pertaining to their respective areas to assist both devotees and the general public.
He also directed Deputy Commissioners to assess the arrangements for the observance of Shab-i-Meraj in their districts to ensure advance arrangements at religious places.
