Srinagar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi, lauded Ladakh and J&K for organizing the first major sports meet of the national calendar, showcasing their prominence as winter sports hotspots.
In his inaugural message as per news agency JKNS, PM Narendra Modi reiterated the government’s commitment to fostering sports across India, highlighting Ladakh and J&K’s role in elevating the culture of sports, boosting tourism, and promoting the nation’s diversity.
“Our government prioritizes sports development in Ladakh and Jammu & Kashmir through initiatives like 100 Khelo India Centres in J&K and a State Centre of Excellence in Leh, shaping the region into a hub of sporting excellence,” PM Modi said, adding that KIWG 2025 would enhance India’s sporting achievements.
The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir will host the snow games of Khelo India Winter Games 2025 in February.
The fifth edition of Khelo India Winter Games will take place in Ladakh (January 23-27) and J&K (February 22-25), featuring two ice and four snow disciplines, while also showcasing the region’s art, culture, and tourism potential. (JKNS)
