Karnah // Tangdhar: In Karnah, a case has been registered by the police regarding the issuance of fake birth certificates, and an investigation has been initiated. A network involved in issuing fake birth certificates in Karnah has been uncovered, leading to an investigation and action against the owner of a local computer shop.

The issue came to light when a ninth-grade student was found in possession of a birth certificate issued in 2024, even though the issuing Block Development Officer (BDO) had been transferred from Karnah in 2023. Upon discovering this irregularity, SDM Karnah, Zafar Ahmad Lone, intervened immediately.

During a press conference, SDM Lone revealed that the fake certificate was created by the owner of a photocopy shop in the area. He stated, “This is a serious issue that can have far-reaching consequences.” He further added that interrogation of the shop owner is underway, and more individuals may be involved.

He informed that the police have been directed to register an FIR in this regard and initiate further investigations. SDM Lone stated, “Tampering with official documents not only impacts individual lives but also undermines the credibility of government records.”

This incident has raised concerns about the potential misuse of fake documents in the region.
