Srinagar: In preparation for Republic Day celebrations, District Majistrate Shopian has designated district as “No Drone Flying Zone” from January 24th to January 26th, 2025.
As per an order issued by District Majistrate Shopian a copy of which lies with news agency JKNS reads, In light of the upcoming Republic Day celebrations on January 26th, 2025, and in the interest of ensuring the smooth, safe, and secure conduct of events and activities, it is hereby ordered that the entire area of Shopian district is designated as a “No Drone Flying Zone” with immediate effect, extending through and beyond the period of Republic Day observances.
Order further reads, This restriction is enacted to maintain public safety, protect sensitive infrastructure, and prevent any potential security threats posed by unauthorized unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The prohibited airspace will remain in effect from January 24th to January 26th, 2025, in the entire District, Shopian.
All relevant law enforcement agencies, including local police, security forces are instructed to strictly enforce this order. Drones detected within the restricted airspace will be immediately intercepted, and violators will be subject to legal action as per applicable laws. Any drone activity within the designated no-fly zone, noticed by an individual should be immediately reported to the District Administration/Police Authorities, it reads.
This action is taken with a view to ensuring a secure, peaceful, and orderly Republic Day celebration for all citizens and participants, reads the order. (JKNS)
