Bandipora,: A massive fire broke out in Gurez’s Bagtore area, destroying a house and damaging another. The Army quickly intervened, preventing further destruction.
Reports reaching news agency JKNS reveal that a devastating fire broke out in the Bagtore area of Gurez, destroying a double-storey wooden house and partially damaging an adjacent structure. The fire, believed to have originated from a traditional wooden bukhari (heater), caused panic among residents.
The Army’s Rana Battalion, stationed in the area, swiftly intervened to contain the fire, preventing further destruction. Locals, alongside the Army, carried out a rescue operation that saved nearby properties. However, a fire tender was delayed due to a road blockage near the NHPC dam site. NHPC authorities deployed a JCB to clear the path, enabling the fire tender to reach the spot, reports stated.
The house of Aabid Hussain Lone of Gulshanpora Bagtore was heavily damaged, but no casualties were reported. A resident, Zaheer Ahmed, praised the Army’s efforts, saying. (JKNS)
